Melges 20 European Championship, South Easterly wind pushes Fremito d’Arja

Puntaldia (Italy), 24 September 2021 - When the 2021 Melges 20 European Championship in Puntaldia will come to an end, it will  certainly be remembered for its wide range of weather conditions. After two days of very light breezes, almost evanescent, the South Easterly wind entered powerful and gusty, bringing with him steep waves.

These were the conditions that the crews competing in Day 3 of the Melges 20 European Championship had to face today. Conditions that did not intimidate Dario Levi and his Fremito d’Arja: after yesterday’s victory, Levi’s crew maintains control of the ranking with partials of 1-3-4 today.

Same daily partial results, but in different order (3-4-1) for Brontolo by Filippo Pacinotti: the reigning European Champions continue to tail the ranking leaders, with a delay of only three points.

An extremely consistent Raya by Matteo Marenghi Vaselli takes third place six points behind the leaders, followed by Nika by Vladimir Prosikhin and Gone Squatching by Pietro Loro Piana.

The demanding conditions of today also open the battle in the Corinthian fleet, solidly controlled by Benedetta Iovane with B.Lex, followed by TeamBianca and Kindako.

The action will resume tomorrow at 10.00, with a day that promises to be at least as demanding as today. At the end of the last three races of the series, not only the name of the new European Champion will be revealed, but also that of the winner of the Melges World League 2021 seasonal circuit, that before Puntaldia has already made stops in Scarlino, Cala Galera, Malcesine and Villasimius.

Not only competition on the water, though: also tonight, the sailors will enjoy a crew party in an exclusive location.
