Melges 20 King of the Poets Cup, the ranking gets shorter after Day 2
Portovenere (Italy), 18 September 2020 - Light sea breeze on the second day of racing in Portovenere, where the Melges 20 fleet is racing for the third event of the 2020 racing season, organized by Melges Europe in collaboration with the Municipality of Porto Venere, the Committee of the Sailing Clubs of the Gulf and the Sailing Club of La Spezia.
Although only one race was completed today, there was no lack of excitement, with the top three boats in the ranking crossing the finish line at the photo finish, redefining the balances of the overall ranking.
After today's regatta, in fact, won by Filippo Pacinotti's Brontolo with Dario Levi's Fremito d'Arja behind him and Vladimir Prosikhin's Nika in third place, the Russian entry maintains control of the ranking with 9 points, but is closely followed by Brontolo, only one length late, and by Fremito d'Arja, in turn a point behind.
Tomorrow the races of the Melges 20 fleet will resume at 12.00 and it will be possible to complete up to three regattas, which will outline the final ranking of the King of Poets Cup. At the same time, the Melges 14 will get on the water for their first day of racing: the sixteen helmsmen present on the starting line will be able to complete up to six races between Saturday and Sunday.
