THE CORINTHIAN TEAM OF SIDERVAL KEEPS SETTING THE PACE IN RIVA DEL GARDA
Riva del Garda (Trento), 13 July 2019 - The final leg of the Melges 20 World League European circuit goes on in Riva del Garda and Marco Giannini's Italian Corinthian crew of Siderval confirms, after the completion of 5 races, its leadership in the provisional general standings.
The performance of Siderval is no longer a surprise and confirms this Corinthian team as the most credited for winning this act of Melges 20 World League: this would be a historical record since no Corinthian team had ever gone so far in the history of the Melges 20 Class.
The races of today open under the strong sign of Pirogovo of the Russian Alexandr Ezhkov, that earns two consecutive bullets in race 3 and 4, results that however find a solid response from the leader of the general ranking Siderval, who replies with a third and a fourth.
The races of today also mean an important recovery from the holder of the European circuit, the Italian Brontolo Racing of Filippo Pacinotti, that with great performances climbs up to second place overall.
The third race of the day and fifth of the series brings the important signature of Russian Bogatyrs by Igor Rytov, the number 1 in the World and circuit rankings, that recovers from the below the standards performances of yesterday: up to this event, in fact, the crew had already conquered two stages and a second place in the previous continental events Melges World League.
The provisional general ranking, which may be shaken by the discard of the worst result (upon completion of the sixth race) is then still dominated, as mentioned, by the so far undisputed Siderval (pt. 17) with 15 points margin on the first of the pursuers, Brontolo Racing of Filippo Pacinotti (pt. 33) and Pirogovo (pt. 36). The top five is completed by Mascalzone Latino Jr. by Achille Onorato (pt. 41) and by Russian Bogatyrs by Igor Rytov (pt. 42).
Tomorrow, the final day will designate the names of the Melges 20 World League Champions in the European Division. The winners will also be awarded with the special prize by La Thuile, partner of the European Circuit 2019.
