MELGES WORLD LEAGUE - ADRIATIC SEA GRAND PRIX

FREMITO D’ARJA BY DARIO LEVI HITS THE SECOND STAGE OF THE MELGES WORLD LEAGUE 2022

Porto San Giorgio (Fermo), 8 May 2022 - Ends today the four days of the Adriatic Grand Prix, an event valid for the Melges World League 2022 circuit and dedicated to the Melges 32 and Melges 20.
Three races completed today for a total of six in this Grand Prix on the Marche race course with the presence also of the President of the Italian Sailing Federation Francesco Ettorre who wanted to bring FIV's greetings to the world of one design sailing and to the sailors of the Melges World League.

After yesterday's verdict regarding the ranking of the Melges 32 fleet, today the attention was all turned to the protagonists of the Melges 20 fleet. For all of them, today's goal was to hunt down the provisional leader Gone Squatching of Pietro Loro Piana whose escape was immediately stopped, already from today's first race, by the number one in the ranking Fremito d'Arja of Dario Levi who, with an always perfect reading of the race course by the tactician Stefano Cherin, goes on to conquer again a first place in this stage.

Against the current power of Fremito d'Arja (pt. 8) the opponents just have to play the remaining steps of the podium with the Monegasque Nika (pt. 11) of Vladimir Prosikhin (with the Spanish Manu Weiller calling tactics) who prevails on Gone Squatching (pt. 13) of Pietro Loro Piana with Francesco Ivaldi on tactics. The Loro Piana team leaves the race course satisfied but with a hint of regret for having had to give up the provisional leadership gained on Friday.
The top five of the Adriatic Grand Prix is completed by the Monegasque Raya (pt. 19) by Matteo Marenghi Vaselii (tactician Giulio Desiderato) and by B.Lex (pt. 26) by Benedetta Iovane (with the Slovenian Branko Brcin making tactical choices).
In the Corinthian division the success goes to Neodent of the Savoini Sailing Team who finishes sixth in the general classification.
With the second success of the season, Fremito d’Arja further consolidates its position as number one in the ranking of the Melges World League 2022.

Dario Levi - “We are happy with this result which is a continuation of what we did last year. Tactically we have interpreted this race course very well and our boat has always shown great speed. The level in this class is always very high and we certainly cannot be distracted also because the most important goals are yet to come and are of interest not only to us but to many of our opponents”

The Melges World League returns for the third round of the season from 9 to 12 June in the Gaeta regatta course.
