Melges 20 World Championship, Brontolo keeps setting the pace at the eve of the finals

Cala Galera (GR), 9 October 2020 - On the eve of the grand finale of the Melges 20 World Championship, the Brontolo keeps setting the pace in Cala Galera: two races completed on the penultimate day of the event, in conditions of 8 knots of breeze and flat seas.

With partials scores of 2-4 in today's races and considering the discard of the worst result that took place at the completion of the sixth race of the series, Pacinotti's crew is confirmed for the third consecutive day in command of the general ranking, with a total of 7 points, 11 points ahead of Russian Bogatyrs, provisionally silver medal, and 13 points ahead of Matteo Marenghi Vaselli's Raya. Fremito d’Arja by Dario Levi and Sease by Franco Loro Piana close the top five on equal points.

With today's regattas, Russian Bogatyrs and Siderval score the first bullet of their series. Rytov's crew took the victory at the end of a fierce duel with Brontolo, duel that was only resolved at the photo finish. Siderval, on the other hand, won the second and last race of today and currently occupies the ninth position in the general classification, second among the Corinthians, where B.Lex by Benedetta Iovane sets the pace.

The grand finale of the Melges 20 World Championship is scheduled for tomorrow: racing will resume at 12.00 and up to three races can be completed.
