It all begins on 30 and 31 May with the Audi Melges 20, the new exciting monotype awarded boat of the year 2008 in the United States. The second leg of this circuit concludes on June 5-7 with the great Melges 32 featuring many of the best sailors in the world. These exceptional performance boats will be enhanced by the windy waters of Maremma.

Marina di Scarlino, 28 May 2009 - The intense season of the Club Nautico chaired by Guido Spadolini and Marina di Scarlino for the next two weekends, two of the most anticipated events of 2009, this is the Audi Sailing Series, which lead in the waters of the Maremma, on two successive weekends, before the Audi Melges 20, and then Melges 32.

The Audi Melges 20 will appear first with two intense days of racing scheduled for Saturday 30 and Sunday May 31. It is a new, fast one design boat, 6 meters long and just 520 kg with a sail area of 24.2 square meters in leg, plus a large 40 sqm gennaker for sailing in the stern. The Melges 20 is sailed with a crew of 3 or 4 people implementing exceptional performance that will be enhanced by the fresh sea breezes typical of the Maremma Tuscany. This boat was awarded 2009 Boat Of The Year by Sailing World Magazine the best sportboat in the United States and Canada. It has already achieved a good spread in its first year of activity.

Seventeen teams are expected at Club Nautico Scarlino, guided by the Director General of the CNS Carlo Giuliano Tosi. Towing operations and the launch will be handled quickly by the usual modern facilities of the Navy and the Yacht Service Scarlino. For the practice racing is slated for Friday. Between Saturday and Sunday 6 races are planned. Marina di Scarlino will also serve as race headquarters for the Audi Sailing Series. After the first stage in Lerici on 2-3 May, in the lead circuit is Benedetto Giallongo's Value Team with 5 points, ahead of Luca Lalli's Lin Be Sailing.com and in third is Giuseppe Cavalli's Leviathan.

Marina di Scarlino is a modern marina which is located in the heart of Maremma Toscana.
